Solid book
I previously read Whisper Man and liked it, however, I was slightly disappointed in it only because I felt like it had SO much hype surrounding it that I expected something to blow my mind. So when I saw that Shadows was receiving the same type of hype I went in with my expectations lower. Apparently this worked because I liked this one better.
I loved that the book switched from past to present to give us the full story, but with room for twists at the end. I am a sucker for this type of thriller though, something about urban legions and small towns give me the creeps, add in a child with a tendency to lean towards the dark and sinister and I'm going to have to read the book.
The build up and mystery as to what is going on was good, but the twist at the end of the book is what changed my mind on just how good the story was. I love a good twist at the end of a thriller, but with so many thrillers being released it is becoming harder and harder to find ones that aren't predictable. However, North does an excellent job at keeping the reader guessing to the point that they aren't aware of the twist about to hit them. I look forward to the next book this author writes.
