I was so surprised by this book, it was not at all what I was expecting. I thought I would be haunted by the book and horrified instead I was invested. The way that Alex North lets the story unfold is beautiful. The whole time I was reading it I felt like I was being watched, the skin on the back of your neck is tingling. I felt Paul's suspicions and mounting fear build as the story escalates and grows. The descriptions of Charlie made me think of unhinged serial killers and the sensation that you are being watched. It permeates throughout the length of the novel until you take that first breath of relief, only to find out that the killer is still out there. The misdirects and anticipation in this book were what kept me rapturous for the ending.
