This book was so slow, and I had a difficult time finishing it. The different timelines and flashbacks made for a confusing read. I also was not a big fan of any of the characters, so I couldn’t root for any of them.

Though the plot is intriguing— returning to the scene of the crime after being gone for years, I thought the execution left a lot to be desired unfortunately. I was also too confused for the stakes to be very high.

The creepy atmosphere of the book is about the only thing I enjoyed about it, and I think the author did a good job of making the reader feel unsettled. The scenes in the hospital were especially spooky to me.

This was my first book by this author, and I’ve heard enough good things about their writing to want to read another book by them. However, I don’t think this is their best work, and I would not recommend this book to anyone.
