Half-Baked Supernatural Story
In my previous review for this author's work I had roped myself into the sequel. When I finished the book I jumped right into this one. Perhaps the story got stronger, better? They shared the same universe, same locations, and same character (Amanda, the detective).
Alas, no. This book was the same strength as it's predecessor. Detached writing with creepy themes.
I feel like these books were heavily inspired by The X-Files. The X-Files while taking place in modern day society had those paranormal angles that made it some alt universe. This would probably be the same.
I just feel like these books are half baked. They could be better but I think his detached way of writing and or lack of solid characters make these books throw-away reads. You don't really set yourself up for excitement for the next one even though they all take place in the same universe/location.
I don't think the author is for me and I'm fine with that.
