Paul Adams has to return home to be with his ailing mother. He hasn’t been in Featherbank for years. Coming homes means memories are resurfacing, and not all of them are good. In another town, a boy is brutally murdered by two of his classmates. The murder is very similar to a murder that happened in Paul’s past. The victim and the perpetrators were all Paul’s friends. Is the killer back? How is Charlie Crabtree still influencing young men?

I LOVED this book. This is definitely a top 10 of 2020 for me. I love thrillers that contain an element of the supernatural. In this book, you can never tell what is real. I definitely got some Slenderman vibes, and I am hear for that. I don’t know if it’s because I listened to this one on audio, but I was blown away with most of the twists and turns!

This book is CREEPY. Remember the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and lucid dreaming? Get ready to start a dream diary. In this book, the Freddy figure is called Red Hands 😱. I was so interested in the lucid dreaming aspect of this book. I’m apparently really into weird sleep stuff, who knew 🤷🏻‍♀️

I love books where an adult goes to confront the misdeeds of their past. This book reminded me a little of It in that way. Something horrible happened to Adam’s friends, and he needs to figure out the truth of it. This book is also told from two perspectives, Adam and the detective investigating the present day murder. Something that never fails to keep me flying through a book.

Finally, the narration of this books was fantastic! Both MC’s had separate narrators (yay!) and it really helped me get into both perspectives. I definitely recommend the audio for this one!

You need this book when it comes out July 7. Trust me. Thank you to Macmillan audio for my copy!
