Finished up The Shadows last night from @celadonbooks and @bookofthemonth. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 read for me. Synopsis: 25 years after a brutal slaying of Paul’s friend, Paul is forced to return home when his mother falls ill. 25 years ago Paul and his friend befriend Charlie Crabtree and Billy who believed they could communicate with the ghost Red Hands in their dreams. Charlie becomes obsessed with communicating with “Red Hands” in his dreams and documenting the encounter in a dream journal. This obsession drives Paul away from the group until things go South. This brutal killing has always remained a mystery because Charlie Crabtree disappeared shortly after leaving Billy to take all the blame. When copy cat killings begin to pop up Detective Amanda Beck and Paul must solve the mystery, where did Charlie Crabtree disappear to all those years ago? This book was great but unfortunately not very spooky! I definitely think the author was inspired by the Slenderman killings, check out that awesome HBO documentary! It was definitely surprising, I thought I had it all figured out but the ending was faulty. It was good thriller overall.
