Those ghosts in your dreams will forever haunt you - most especially if they are in some ways tied to your reality. One of the most interesting aspects of this novel was that North was able to make his main protagonist into his on antagonist at times. There were a few times throughout the course of the novel that I thought the story would be flipped back and the main character would be called to take responsibility. I hoped that he would not be the one that they were searching for and was cheering him on throughout - that he could easily come to terms with his past demons at the same time that he came to terms with those current demons (again, recognizing that at times, they were both one and the same). In all, I found this novel by North to be more enjoyable than the Whisper Man but would give them the same three stars rating. The suspense is there but I would like it turned up a notch.
