I made it about fifty percent through this book, but I found that I did not really care one way or another what happened because there really wasn’t anything happening.

The premise sounded interesting and right up my alley. But I don’t care for a detective point-of-view and the one in this novel felt completely unnecessary and out of place. I feel like her point-of-view was used to make the book longer because there wasn’t enough story driving the plot.

I really feel like this book had potential. The general story was unique and interesting, but the author didn’t find a way to make it more thrilling and fast-paced. It was a slow burn mystery that was going nowhere, so I had to abandon ship. Days would go by where I did not read a single page of anything because The Shadows put me in a reading slump. Maybe I will try another book by the author again, but he’s 0-2 with me right now.
