This authors first novel, The Whisper Man, was published last year and received a LOT of buzz! This second novel, The Shadows, is similar in that both books are very creepy but also different, in that this second book is more a suspense novel than a thriller. The main character in the novel is a writing teacher who is a big fan of Stephen King, and I think this book can be described as a suspense novel with horror elements. Twenty-five years ago, a fifteen year old boy, Charlie Crabtree, convinced three very unhappy boys that if they became good enough at lucid dreaming they could disappear into a dream. When he and a friend kill a boy and Charlie disappears, never to be found, it creates a legend: Did he really figure out how to disappear into a lucid dream? Over the next 25 years, a few similar murders occur. Now one of the boys in that original group has returned to his hometown to care for his dying mother and everything explodes.

Disclosure - I received an ARC ( Advance Readers Copy) of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
