THANK GOODNESS Alex North has redeemed himself in the eyes of this reader. I was not a fan of The Whisper Man--I felt as if it was too dreary and uneventful. However, The Shadows completely makes up for this and gave me several goosebumps and jumps along the way. This, by far, has been the creepiest book that I have personally read all year long and I cannot wait for others to read it!. I found the characters to be written in a way that makes us cheer for them, as well as sit back and think "What are you doing?!" This is what makes a solid character developmental performance in a mystery/horror. I also really appreciated the psychological tone to the novel as it is able to convey truth to the many psychological characteristics it applies.
