The Shadows was another standout thriller for me, with more than a few scary moments. The elements of the Whisper Man that worked well carried over into Alex North’s new book—a local urban legend inspiring a crime, lots of eerie, supernatural twists, and strong character development of the detective. I didn’t expect the heavy focus on lucid dreaming through the story, but was able to buy into the concept enough to get into the story. I was hooked from the beginning, but definitely still had a few of the same “creeped out” moments as I did when I read the Whisper Man.
I will be recommending #TheShadowsBook this summer!! A refreshing thriller that steps away from the all too common “crazy wife” trope that’s so popular right now.
