We have three different protagonists across a timeline of 25 years: a detective, a wayward son, and his mother. In the midst of them lies two murders with similar patterns: read hands everywhere. 25 years ago, the wayward son was questioned by police while his mother promised him, "It's going to be okay." In the present, the wayward son returns to visit his sick mother on the same day a body will be found by the detective. Through it all, the mother is suffering from advanced dementia and cancer, and she cannot tell what's going on around her and the time she's living in.
Are the murders connected? Does the wayward son know what's going on? Does the mother remember anything? What will the detective learn from the past about the present?
