The prologue immediately had me hooked to the story - who is this boy in the narration, what was he accused of and how did his mother's loyal promise that all was going to be okay go wrong?
The mystery of the young boy's body and the red hands tied with Paul's mother's screams about the red hands has me incredibly hooked. The tone is already eerie and I want to keep reading!
I really enjoyed THE WHISPER MAN, and I like that Alex North writes chilling stories, combined with deep and complicated character relationships. That seems to be the case with THE SHADOWS so far as well!
