I really loved Alex North's debut novel, The Whisper Man, and I am so looking forward to reading his next! I don't even need to read the sample to know that I want to read it! I love the cover; it's just as creepy as his first novel's cover. I'm also excited to see that Amanda Beck is back! She was such a great character in the previous novel. After reading the sample, what I can say about this author's writing is that he knows exactly how to make you feel like you're living in this world. He pulls all of your senses in with his descriptions with sights, sounds, and smells. Everything feels real, and everything is extremely dark. He loves using alternating perspectives, and it really works so well for the story lines he creates. And the sample left on such a cliffhanger! I have to know what is going to happen next! So excited for this one!
