Not very engaging in the beginning

First of all, the cover is extremely stunning and beautiful. Although, that should never really be a good reason to like a book. Honestly, the plot and summary seem super engaging and really interesting. However, the first few chapters I felt were not really entertaining/engaging. I found myself having to reread things over and over again because I couldn't concentrate. Although, the synopsis promises an emotional read, as does the disclaimer at the beginning of the book. Emotional reads are one of my favorites and I did like reading the preview so maybe it gets good later on in the book. I do like how the book is multiple points of views, it really allows the reader to get into the main characters head which I find lovely. The characters seem alright and a good fit for what the premise of the book is. I think it's just the writing that has me disinterested.
