This was an excellent debut novel and I was surprised by how much I got into it.

It was wickedly intense and fast paced, I didn't see the ending coming, and that's a great thing. It's as if Ruth Ware and Lisa Jewell had a baby, and they made Anna Downes. Perfect combination of both of there story telling skills. It uses the locked door element that Ruth (as well as Riley Sager are so known for)

The book did suffer with some identity problems, she tried to throw in some unnecessary elements theme and genre wise, but the story was really strong and I think her writing is very skilled. It could have been edited down overall and made to be a stronger book but I liked the story quite a bit. I can't wait to read what her 2nd book will be, I will definitely read whatever Anna Downes publishes in the future.

Thanks to Minotaur Books for providing me with an advanced readers copy.
