The safe place is about lies. So many lies. The author wastes no time in letting us know the two main characters are not who they may seem to be. Emily is a would be actress who has no self confidence but yet is self centered. She calls her parents for money, after an argument with them, when she is fired not even remembering it's her mother's birthday. Scott is a CEO, with a dangerous secret. He uses his title to fire and manipulate Emily to unknowing help him keep his secret. What could possibly go wrong for either of them?

The writer has a style that perfectly grabs our attention. From the first chapter we know who our protagonist Emily is and it is obvious she's in a place perfect for Scott's manipulation. Her safe place is not being a nanny for his kids but it might be Scott's safe place for now. So what happens to Emily when she is not his safe place anymore?
