I thought this book was good but could've been better. I gave it four stars though, because it did keep me interested in seeing where the story was going.

The book started off really strong and intriguing, giving the back story of the main character, the wife, and the house/grounds. But then for me, the story felt almost meaningless until around page 260 or so, giving a lot of information that, while important in retrospect, was anticlimactic. Without spoiling part of the book, I'll say towards the end was predictable in a way, regarding what was going on with the child character, but I was still invested in the story.

I think if the book were longer, or the end crazier, this would have been a 5star book for me.
