I've long stared at this book. I finally was able to devote time to reading it and I'm so glad I did. This book will draw you in, slowly at first, and then it will start distracting you whenever you aren't reading it.

Emily is a struggling actress who has just lost yet another temp job. She's annoyed by her obviously disappointed and disapproving parents and she's frustrated that she hasn't had her big break. And just when she is about to be hit by a literal bus, she's saved by none other than the CEO of her last failed job.

Scott rescues Emily, invites her to lunch, and over lunch, decides she'd be the perfect person to hire on as staff at his home. Scott's wife, Nina, and daughter, Aurelia live out of town in France in a massive estate. Aurelia has medical complications and they like to keep to themselves but the property is massive and could use some TLC and they certainly need help fixing the place up.

So just when Emily hits rock-bottom she's invited to not only stay at a gorgeous private estate, but be paid to do so. Sure, she does some housework like cleaning and painting, maintenance and whatnot, but she also is showered with amazing and decadent food, gifts, and what turns out to be great company in Scott's wife, Nina.

But threaded throughout every page is a feeling of unease. Anticipation that at some moment the rug will be ripped out from under your feet. You know something is coming, but you'll be hard pressed to figure out just what that something is before it's revealed to you.

There were so many great elements in this book, I highly recommend it for any thriller and suspense lover!
