I answered a facebook ad for the publishing company and received the arc free.

For a beach read, it's not a BAD book it's just... lacking.

I'm not going to go into true spoiler territory but I will tell you this felt like a modern-day Gothic read. It's almost as if the author seemed to be inspired by some Fawcett Press Gothics of the 60's/70's and created this story just making it modern day.

- Ordinary girl who can't catch a break and is 'plain pretty?'
- Brooding male who is wealthy, likes to inflict torture on himself, and who may or may not be hiding something?
- Married to a woman who seems to be housed up in an expensive house who has a child that is acting strange?

Like this book ticked off so many things. By act three, you kind of knew what was up and what was going on, but you just didn't understand what was up with Scott. Why was he the way he was? He just seemed kind of empty and his will he/won't he with Emily annoyed me.

All in all, I don't regret reading it I just wish there was something more to it.
