This story starts with Emily losing her temp job and in need of money, her former boss Scott, offers her the perfect job. This begins Emily’s life with Nina and her daughter on their estate in a remote area of France. The story is mostly told from Emily’s point of view, but there are a few chapter from Scott , that gives the reader a glance at what might be going on. The Safe Place is a compulsive read, that Was completely enjoyable. I was not sure what sinister secret might be hiding on the estate and what might happen. This book had many twists and turns and left me shocked by the ending. The Safe Place is a well written debut novel and I will definitely be looking forward to more by Anna Downes.
