The Red Address Book is one of the most emotional books I've read in a long time. As Doris thinks back on her 96 years of life, all of the important people in it, and writes her story for her great-niece, my heart broke time and time again. Her life was once so full, and now, she's left alone in her apartment, with weekly Skype calls her only connection to the family she has left. Her address book keeps her memories and the people she has known alive.

This book is absolutely breathtaking and has so much wisdom in its pages. There is so much pain and sorrow, but so much love and hope, too. I won't spoil anything, but early on, I had a feeling I was going end up in tears over this book, and I wasn't wrong. The ending is pure beauty in book form.

I received an advanced reading copy of The Red Address Book from Bookishfirst in exchange for a review.
