This is the memoir of a 96 year old Stockholm woman whose life may seem lonely and uninteresting to others. Yet a recently acquired computer keeps Doris active and a memento address book from her childhood encapsulates a lifetime of memories.

This book begins with simple language that creates an impression of how dismissively Doris's new caregiver sees the aging woman. I found the style of writing in the opening to be offputting. Although that ended quickly and transitioned into Doris's engaging narration of memories of her father and the changes to her life immediately after his death.

I was given the opportunity to see an early release short introduction to the The Red Address Book by BookishFirst. It is a book I was drawn into quickly once the main character began to tell her story. By the end of her second recollection I was hooked and interested in reading the entire book.
