A mishmash of emotionally eviscerating, depressing, and yet somehow full of gorgeous and evocative imagery at the same time. The vast majority of the book depressed the ever loving h*ll out of me, but the last gew chapters sent me into full on can't catch my breath hiccup sobs. The relationship between Jenny and Doris would have vastly benefited from some lead in. It was a bit hard of a buy in that she cared so much about this old woman since we didn't find out about their relationship til the last portion of the book. Doris and Allan's relationship moved me more than anything else. Oh, and Jenny? Throw the whole d*mn husband away. No one that selfish has a change of heart in one phone call. Overall it was a good couple days worth of read. Jenny was an odd bird, she just seemed to not fit with the rest of the story.
