The Red Address Book was a cute story. I did enjoy getting to know the characters, but wasn't left feeling blown away or overly emotionally invested in the story line.

Doris is a 96 year-old woman living in Sweden. Her visiting nurses don't always give her their full attention and her only remaining relative is her great niece, Jenny, living in America.

Doris is contemplating her address book and all the people in it that are no longer living. Bit by bit we go back through Doris's past and learn about her difficult childhood and her early start into the workforce. We learn about Doris's job as a living mannequin in Paris and where her life has taken her ever since.

Jenny is struggling at home. She's a young mother with a working husband who doesn't always hear her. She's struggling with finding her own identity again instead of her roles as mother and wife.

Doris starts writing down her memories and passes it down to Jenny, a lifetime of things they've never talked about like difficult relationships between mothers and daughters, lost loves, disappointments, achievements, and love.
