The Red Address Book is a beautifully written story about love in all its forms. It shows the reader how the bad times make the good all the more appreciated. The story of the main character's life (Doris) is told from a child through the age of ninety-six. The story is always interesting, nicely paced and interesting in both the way it is told, through an address book, and how it contrasts past and present. Because the reader gets to know Doris for the majority of her life, a real affection and empathy grow. After all that "life" together, with the audience and Doris, prospective readers will be happy to know the book has a very satisfying ending. This book would make a great cold winter's night book or a lovely gift.
