I really wanted to like this story. The setup was great and the plot idea had a lot of promise. I just had trouble relating to the characters through some of it.
It starts off really well. I liked the idea of a friends to lovers romance, especially one complicated by a fake marriage and a friend who seeming has a plethora of wives. I also really felt for our hero who has gone through a lot of loss and tragedy in his life and obviously has some emotional scars that are hard to deal with.
However, *SPOILER ALERT*
I could not understand why the hero would treat the heroine the way he did when he found out she was pregnant with their baby. I understand the loss he went through and I understand that everyone deals with that pain differently, but I felt like he was being unfair. I wouldn't want to be with a man who made me feel bad about becoming pregnant. The fact that the heroine has to go back to him in the end before he gets up the courage to go to her really bothered me because I felt he still had some growth to go through.
