I am normally not a huge romance novel reader, but I thought this story seemed interesting.
The plot seems like it takes the reader on a ride by intertwining mystery with romance. It seems like family dynamics, lost love, and broken friendships are all integral to the story.
Selena, Will, Knox, and a slew of unnamed girls seem central to the story. Will is quickly characterized as no real prize and yet he did provide a pretty nice favor for his ex wife and he was friends with a man characterized as pretty much perfect. Selena is slightly inappropriate in her thoughts, but I will give her a pass because she is self aware of her shortcomings and it's also clear that the history for all of the characters goes back quite a bit before the funeral. We do not learn much about Knox in the excerpt, but he seems like a possibly complicated, interesting character.
I kind of surprised myself in that I am interested to know what happens next. Perhaps I should start reading more romance?
