Characters Neither Appeal Nor Repel Enough To Keep Me Reading

The premise of rowdy troublemakers taking over camp sounded fun. The title and cover design hint at lots of practical jokes among camp attendees. Maybe a middle school student who is really into gaming will enjoy this. However, for me, something is missing. At times, their conversations sounded outdated, from calling someone a "tool" to the "no shit, Sherlock" (within the first four and a half pages.)
