The cover is what sucked me in. I’m a sucker fore a beautiful cover. I also love assassin based books. The premise has so much promise. The world building in this book starts off strong. I also love the way we get to follow two characters, one is a skilled assassin, the other is an aspiring assassin who wants to be skilled. The first thing that stands out to me is that this book reminds me a lot of “The Way of Shadows” by Brent Weeks. It has that similar feel where a younger aspiring assassin is taken on by a skilled veteran assassin. It’s a great way to draw parallels, in which the younger aspiring assassin gets a glimpse of what they could or may turn into as they dive deeper into their craft.
