I really enjoyed this book!
The author establishes a clear, strong back story in the prologue that carries through the rest of the book. She also had a great use of language. De la Cruz uses very descriptive wording that lends itself to wonderful visual imagery. The story of Shadow and Cal and their kingdom is very captivating and gripping. It pulls you in and leaves you wanting more. The characters are very well established and strong. They are relatable and really pull you into their world. De La Cruz’s imagery allows you to experience and feel what the characters are feeling and experiencing. It is an amazing story and I can’t wait to read the rest of it! I am excited to discover what happens to Shadow and Cal and if they find the scrolls.
