The Queen’s Assassin by Melissa De La Cruz was a rather enjoyable YA fantasy that was geared more toward the younger end of that.
It was still a good read that kept me hooked start to finish. This is the first book I’ve read from the author, but I look forward to continuing the series and reading others by her.
The book had mystery, intrigue, magic, and love.
The bad parts to me were the POV it was told from- I found it odd that the main character (which the book is named after...) was not told in first person perspective. It was told from third person POV and he was a secondary character. But, it wasn’t horrible and didn’t keep me from reading.
There were a lot of characters and backstory in the first half, but once you get it figured out and up to speed, you want to keep going and see what happens next.
Thank you so much Bookishfirst for my free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
