First off, it wasn't a bad book, it just wasn't executed that well.
It had its high points at times where the writing was wonderful, but other times it fell flat and left me feeling that I didn't fully understand what was actually going on. Sometimes I felt like scenes were too abrupt, things would just change and left me feeling confused.
The romance between the two felt forced, I feel like they were better charters as individuals, not love interests, because they lost the good rapport they had.
Overall, it had a good plot, and Shadow was a good character, but the story as a whole wasn't great. I don't know how I feel about the sequel. I feel like I can't stop at just book one because there wasn't anything definitive where I could feel like it ended.
