This one was interesting right from the start. Here are the notes I took while reading the excerpt:

- The prologue reads like a D&D campaign, or the introductory sequence to an anime.
- It's imminently readable, you just fall in.
- Very good flow, nothing is forced.
- Easy to follow, in spite of the wide cast of characters.
- Highly engaging.
- Good POV shifts - that's hard to do for many authors.
- Backstories flow organically.

All in all, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I didn't expect to enjoy it, and I certainly didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. This is one I will be acquiring. Books like this one make me wish you could use your points on past reads that are no longer an option. As much as I enjoyed this one, no lie, I'm probably going to snag it used, not because I don't think the author deserves royalties, because they do, but because it's tiny for the price, and while I was engaged, it didn't have the depth to it to make me willing to spend $20 bucks on it. $6 used, with shipping? Most definitely.
