Firstly, that cover is gorgeous. I love pretty covers and this one drew me in right away!
I really liked the premiss of this book. The plot was a little on the predictable side but the characters were unique and brought the story alive. The world building was really good and was very easy to visualize. I felt like I was there with Celedon and Shadow. Shadow is the main character and personally, my favorite. She is reckless and stubborn, and her train of thought was fun to follow. I liked the idea of Caledon's character. However, the book repeatedly mentions that he is the deadliest assassin in the kingdom but it felt more telling than showing. The action in the book was brushed off or ended too quickly and I wished I had seen more of Caledon in action. I was also not a huge fan of the romance. It felt forced and the insta-attraction didn't feel realistic to me.
Overall, this book was a quick and fun read and I need book two!
