"The king is dead. Long live the queen!" rang out in the streets. The king was killed by an Aphrasian monk in an attempt to quash the Aphrasian revolt. Left to rule Renovia, Queen Lilianna must pick up the pieces of Renovia after her husband's death. With the Deian scrolls missing and all the magical knowledge they contained, she is still open to attack. Caledon Holt, The King's Assassin, is sent out to find the scrolls. Shadow, a Guild-wanna-be, is also in search of the scrolls, to fulfill the Guild's search, and then she runs into Caledon, a legen in the Guild.
