This was a book that had such potential to me. I'm all for having strong female leads in fantasy driven books. Those are some of my favorite serieses. I quickly read the first book in preparation for this ARC. I found the first book to be underwhelming but still had hope for this one!
The overall plot was fine. The characters could have been more well rounded. But I think the harder thing for me was the writing. I found bits to be repetitive and that made it hard for me to be fully absorbed. At times, I felt like it was a male authors writing just based on some of the phrases used to describe women (and that was especially true in book one). I even stopped at one point to look up information about the author!
Long story short, the book fell flat for me. It looks like she has a small following of readers that really like her books. But I am just not one of those people!
