I was so excited to read this book. It's totally my genre! Kick-butt females, centaurs and all sorts of fantastical creatures, fighting...etc. I received an ARC of this one from Bookish First. I didn't realize it was the second book in a series, but when I researched it, I found out it was about a different character and would be fine as a stand alone.
It was not.
All the characters were thrown at me at once and I was like, "Who are you?" Then each page was angry violence. Angry violence is fun, but not over 300 pages of it. Every page felt the same. I knew what Gemma was going to do. I knew how she was going to react -- with anger and violence.
It had a great premise - two sisters fighting to be queen. Their sister is a knight and fighting for one of them.
This was not the book for me. It may be better if you read the first book in the series before jumping into this one.
