In the second installment of the Scarred Earth Saga left me enjoying similar elements from the first book. Witty banter, laugh-out-loud moments, and a dialogue heavy story line. Aiken has a keen comedic ability to illustrate events through, not world building and scenic descriptions has most authors, but shared scenarios with characters and their feelings or reactions. Plus, Aiken's humorous writing keeps the story moving and easier to read as it is very relatable to how my own brains thinks to itself.
The Princess Knight also follows Keely, a strong female character, but switches to other characters' perspective so you don't get bored with just one way of thinking while reading a series.
Aiken keeps you own your toes and entertained with humor, action and fantasy elements. I recommend to fans of dark fantasy and young adult.
