To be honest I kind of struggled with this book, it took me a while to get into it, although it did get better near the end. First off, the cover is absolutely gorgeous! That’s what first drew me to it. I love stories about magic, throw a little romance into it and I’m hooked. This book however was a little hard to stomach. But at least ended on a good note. The sacrifices were a little too much to be honest, although it’s part of the story and way of life, I feel it could have been left out for the most part. The hateful family situation made me cringe, not because of the writing but because people can be so cruel to one another, even family. I did really like the romance part of the story, Jaren and Leelo were so innocent and sweet that it took away some of the cruelty of the story. Glad there was a happy ending. Not really a sweet magical story as I expected it to be for a fantasy but still a good one.
