This was a fun read. It starts off a bit slow with the failure of Jake to become the great writer of his dreams, fizzling out after his first semi hit of a novel. He meets Evan in his class who tells him of a plot that cannot fail. So , it goes into how several years later, after Evan is dead without ever writing this book, Jake writes that novel (called Crib) and is instantly famous. But there is more to that story than Jake knew and the rest of the book gets going faster and faster as Jake tries to figure out who is threatening him and why.

I am really glad there were bits to read of "The Crib" because I would have been very put out after it was so hyped up in this book. It was a lovely twisty novel and though I guessed the twist, it was still enjoyable though I did yell at Jake to open his eyes and see the truth. The villain of this novel is very smart and I really liked that person. It made the ending very good.
