Jake is a washed up writer desperate to cook up another bestseller. He's currently working as a creative writing teacher and a pompous young man named Evan enters his class with a revolutionary Plot that he knows will be a success. Years later Evan dies and his book is never published. What was Jake to do, NOT steal a dead man's idea? But someone out there knows exactly what Jake did and threatens to expose him.

It was an exciting premise and was just as exciting in execution--I tore through the pages of this book, didn't see the twists coming.

I think the core element of this book that I really enjoyed was Jake, though. He's not particularly likeable, but I liked reading about him. I love all of his tangents about other peoples' writing, how he goes into the common pitfalls of boring sentence construction and overuse of adjectives and such (I think a lot of people who've been in a creative writing class before can relate). He's such a well-developed character.

I wouldn't call this book a new favorite, but I definitely enjoyed it quite a bit!
