I went into this book with the idea that it would be a pretty straightforward thriller. Yes, it had its thrilling moments, but it was definitely more of a psychological mystery. I found Jacob interesting as a main character, and found myself interested in his thought-process behind a few of his decisions. As a writer myself, I find it interesting to read about an author who will inevitably do anything and everything to get what he wants. The twist in this book was just alright for me, but I did not feel as if it took much away from my overall enjoyment. I also enjoyed the addition of the excerpts from the novel that was written by Jacob. It was interesting to see what his process was bringing the idea to life. Overall, Jean Hanff Korelitz is someone that I'm definitely going to keep an eye on for her future works, and I'm excited to see what she conjures up next!
