At first I wasn't sure about this book. There was something about reading about this guy feeling sorry for himself that sort of put me off. And when I finally thought I had figured out what was going on, I mentioned it to my boyfriend, and he was like, "It's about a guy writing a book? That doesn't sound very interesting." So there's that. But I'll say that I was wrong when I thought I had an idea of what was happening, because I don't read book synopses before I begin reading, and thought perhaps that the person who was reticent to discuss his book was at the program to steal a plotline from someone else. However, that book has already been written and enjoyed (A Ladder to the Sky by John Boyne).

But my boyfriend was wrong, because the story was quite interesting. I loved that eventually there were pages of the plot interwoven with the events of the story. But that made it much easier to figure out what was happening in the main story. I don't want to give anything away about it though, because it's always fun to figure things out.
