Being a complete bibliophile, any book set in a bookshop, about books, or about writers is a great treat for me! The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz was truly a special read for me!

Truthfully, it started out a bit slow and I wondered about it, but it picked up and pulled me in and I was quickly turning the pages to find out what was going to happen. Of course I had my guesses, but it was so much fun to reach that conclusion!

Jacob Finch Bonner is an author with one very successfully debut novel way in his past and a string of unsuccessful books and attempts ever since. He has reluctantly settled for a lowly teaching position and hates every minute of it, reading other people’s books and trying to give them encouragement. When an arrogant student let’s Jacob know that he doesn’t need his help because his novel-in-progress is a sure fire best seller, Jacob is ready to quickly dismiss this boaster and go on with his dismal day. However the brief excerpt Jacob saw showed so much promise and Jacob braces himself for the meteoric rise of his former student. That rise never comes. When Jacob finds out that this student had died without ever publishing his book, he decides that the story must be told and he was just the one to tell it.

Years later Jacob’s dreams are all coming true, a best seller, money, Oprah, and even a new love, but his joy is overshadowed by random little messages and tweets from someone who claims he is a thief.

The search to find the anonymous troll and what might have really happened to his student and his story bring up more questions and more intrigue.

I loved the story within the story, the layers and the twists. This was a clever, suspenseful book that ended up grabbing me and keeping me enthralled to the end!

Out today, be sure and grab this one and learn the Plot for yourself!
