Intellectual Theft
I enjoyed Jean Hanff Korelitz's earlier novel, You Should Have Known, so I was intrigued when I heard that she was working on a new thriller set in the writing industry. I think Korelitz's strength as a writer is being able to capture the nuances of a character in a way that makes them feel real to the reader, regardless of how strange the premise of the story might seem. Korelitz also has a talent for writing unlikeable characters, which might be polarizing to readers. The excerpt of The Plot delivers on all of my high expectations and, personally, I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the novel.
