I wasn't sure what I expected from the Picture Bride, except that I was drawn to its cover, which made me want to read further. I had no idea that in the first few pages, I would be exposed to Korean history and their treatment of women - I mean - the line that will stand out always for me when I think about this book is: "once a woman was married, she 'buried her bones' in the house forever." While this idea is pretty commonplace in traditional Indian homes, it is insightful to know that these issues were common in other parts of the world too! I
