For fans of Pachinko, this beautiful story is sure to be a page-turner. Willow, a girl growing up in poverty in the town of Ojin in 1917, receives a prospect of marriage from a Korean landowner living in Hawaii. The problem? She only has his photograph of which to base her impression.

The writing, both lyrical and engrossing, is sure to create a beautiful yet heartbreaking story. Even in the first few pages, it's immediately apparent that the role of women in Korean society at that time was not advantageous. This creates both a timely and thought-provoking story that I'm sure most readers will enjoy.
