I'm very interested in the premise of the book - I've never heard of picture brides before, although I was vaguely aware that there was a wave of East Asian immigration to Hawaii.

That being said, the execution so far falls a bit flat. There's quite a bit of continuous info dumping, which clashes with the quick pacing. I wish the scenes were longer and more fleshed out.

While I don't feel an immediate attachment to Willow, I do for Hongju. Her situation seems a bit more high stakes than Willows and I like her personality.

Criticism aside, I do think I want to give this book a try whenever I come across a copy.

The cover is gorgeous and is definitely what attracted me to read the description.
