This historical fiction novel gives us a look into the (fictional) mail order bride. She hopes to get more out of her life, starting with an education and has high hopes that becoming a “picture bride” for a Korean husband in Hawaii will help her get there. It seems like a well written, realistic look into Korean culture and the early 1900s, with a naive, but likeable and ambitious female protagonist.
